WHAT IS SCLEROTHERAPY

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a  a salt solution directly into the vein. The solution collapses the blood vessel and over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view.

You will often see instant results during your treatment session. Stubborn, thicker veins may need multiple treatments for them to effectively collapse and dissolve

DOES SCLEROTHERAPY HURT?

Sclerotherapy procedure is relatively pain-free. If you are uncomfortable with needles, then there may be some mild discomfort which is experienced due to the small needle injection involved. Common side effects include itching and redness at the injection site. These are temporary and often dissipate in a day or two

DOES SCLEROTHERAPY HAVE ANY DOWN TIME?

Sclerotherapy isn’t surgery so you won’t have a lengthy recovery period - you can return home shortly after the treatment. You’ll need to follow your post-procedure instructions and also wear compression stockings to keep the right pressure on the treated veins and prevent blood clots.
